Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 with 3–5 years’ experience OR Grade 12 with 1–2 years’ security experience.
    (Attach an original certified school report not older than 6 months)

  • Valid Grade C PSIRA certificate – compulsory.

  • Experience in a hospital environment (12 months) – advantageous.

  • Valid driver’s licence – advantageous.

  • No criminal record.

  • Knowledge of:

    • Firearm Control Act

    • Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act

    • PSIRA Act

    • Trespass Act

    • Batho Pele Principles


Key Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Guarding and patrolling hospital property.

  • Ensure staff and visitor vehicles are parked correctly.

  • Search for missing or absconded patients.

  • Fire prevention and reporting of security-related incidents.

  • Safeguard hospital assets, staff, and the public.

  • Check buildings and surroundings for suspicious activity.

  • Operate and maintain security systems and equipment.

  • Control access to the hospital and conduct vehicle/pedestrian searches.

  • Escort patients, visitors, and contractors when required.

  • Assist with queue management and patient restraint when necessary.

  • Enforce hospital security policies and procedures.

  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Chief Security Officer.
