Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is urgently seeking a qualified and reputable Security Guard to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Dis-Chem’s employees, customers, property, and assets. Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate
-
Grade C PSIRA accreditation
-
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the retail security environment (e.g. shopping malls, warehouses)
-
At least 1 year of previous experience in a similar security role
Required Skills and Competencies
-
Sound knowledge of PSIRA regulations
-
Fire emergency and Health & Safety training
-
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
-
Strong observation, communication, and reporting skills
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Conduct regular patrols to identify and prevent suspicious or criminal activities
-
Monitor and control access to the premises for staff, customers, vehicles, and visitors
-
Enforce access control, including searches of staff, suppliers, and company merchandisers
-
Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, and emergency equipment
-
Maintain registers, occurrence books, and detailed incident reports
-
Investigate and report damage, theft, or unlawful entry to management
-
Ensure visibility as a deterrent to crime and dishonest behaviour
-
Assist customers and staff in a professional and courteous manner
-
Supervise refuse removal and cancel staff purchases as required
-
Perform opening and closing procedures, ensuring all doors, windows, and taps are secured
-
Respond quickly and correctly to emergencies, including contacting law enforcement or emergency services when required
-
Assist during evacuations and maintain order at assembly points
-
Provide ongoing security advice and safety awareness
-
Maintain constant vigilance and report any unusual or suspicious behaviour
-
Perform additional duties such as handling calls, messages, and errands as required
