The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) offers a two-year Military Skills Development (MSD) Programme.
Year 1:

✅ REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
-
Be a South African citizen (No dual citizenship)
-
Be 18–22 years old (Grade 12 applicants)
-
Be 18–26 years old (3-year tertiary qualification applicants)
-
Have APS 18 or above (excluding Life Orientation)
-
Mathematics & Physical Science required for specialised musterings (e.g., Aviation Engineering)

Have no criminal record or pending cases
-
Comply with medical requirements
-
Subject to drug testing
-
Psychometric evaluation

Medical evaluation
-
-
Have no visible tattoos when in uniform (body inspection will be conducted)
