The appointed candidates will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in government buildings, including offices, courts, and public facilities, in line with health and safety standards.
Purpose of the Position
The Cleaner position exists to ensure that government facilities are kept clean, safe, and presentable for employees, visitors, and the general public. The role contributes to a hygienic and professional working environment and supports the smooth operation of departmental activities.

Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualification

Grade 10 / Standard 8 / Level 3 or equivalent qualification
Skills and Competencies

Ability to carry out routine cleaning tasks
Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge of cleaning materials, chemicals, and equipment will be an added advantage

Understanding of hygiene and safety procedures is beneficial

No previous experience is required, although cleaning or facilities maintenance experience will be advantageous
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties:

Cleaning offices, courts, holding cells, and public areas

Cleaning toilets, basins, tiles, and other sanitary facilities

Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, and vacuuming floors

Dusting and polishing furniture and office equipment
-
Cleaning windows, walls, doors, glass surfaces, and pavements
-
Emptying refuse bins and disposing of waste correctly

Stripping floors and applying floor treatments when required
-
Using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely
-
Reporting damages, maintenance issues, or safety hazards to supervisors
All duties must be performed in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and departmental cleaning procedures.
Working Conditions
This position involves physical labour, including standing, bending, lifting, and walking for long periods. Cleaners may work indoors or outdoors depending on operational needs and may be required to adjust working hours to meet cleaning schedules.
