Role Overview

Grade 3 is a critical year in the Foundation Phase, where learners consolidate key skills in literacy, numeracy, and independent learning. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing learners for a smooth transition into the Intermediate Phase by delivering engaging, structured, and high-quality instruction.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Deliver high-quality, engaging, and future-focused lessons

• Design learning experiences that accommodate diverse learner needs

• Implement effective teaching strategies aligned with curriculum requirements

• Integrate technology and digital tools into daily teaching

Academic Delivery

• Build strong foundations in reading, writing, literacy, numeracy, and life skills

• Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving

• Monitor learner progress and adapt teaching strategies to improve outcomes

Assessment and Reporting

• Conduct formal and informal assessments in line with academic standards

• Maintain accurate learner records and academic reports

• Provide meaningful feedback to learners and parents

Classroom and Behaviour Management

• Create a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment

• Promote good behaviour, discipline, and emotional development

• Act as a professional role model at all times

Collaboration and Communication

• Build strong relationships with colleagues, parents, and guardians

• Communicate clearly and professionally within the school community

• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school activities

School Representation

• Uphold and promote the ADvTECH brand, values, and ethos

• Represent the school positively within the wider community

Administration, Health, and Safety

• Complete administrative duties accurately and timeously

• Comply with school policies, procedures, and regulations

• Ensure learner safety and wellbeing in line with health and safety standards

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Undergraduate degree (NQF Level 6) in:

  • Early Childhood Development (ECD), or

  • Bachelor of Education (Foundation Phase)

• PGCE required if the undergraduate degree is deemed appropriate

• Valid SACE registration (mandatory)

• Valid police clearance

• 2–5 years’ teaching experience, preferably in the Foundation Phase

• Strong computer and digital literacy skills

• Valid First Aid certification
